This morning, we woke up excited to see the city of Kampala in daylight since our drive into the city the night before was in almost complete darkness. The people were curious to see “Mzungus” (Lugandan for white skinned) and we were just as curious to see everything they were up to. The community church was welcoming and eager to meet us. Pastor James showed us around the buildings and explained the different Bible studies and children programs that were held there. We sat with a group as they finished up their pre-church Bible study and it was amazing to hear them speak so confidently about their faith in God. When the service began, we were instantly swept up in the worship and felt one with the people there. Even when we couldn’t understand the language, we could understand the love and passion for Christ. After a quick lunch back at Pastor James’ home, we took off to Mityana.
Ed and Annette said the conditions of the roads had much improved since their visit here last year so the drive wasn’t as bumpy and full of potholes. About 30 minutes outside of Mityana, several people started to hear noise from underneath the vehicle.  We pulled over to find that the water pump belt was shredded as though a rat gnawed through it.  Our driver, Sula, contacted another driver to come get us.  We asked Vincent how long it would be and he assured us it would be about 30 minutes.  We have all learned that 30 minutes of Ugandan time is about two hours of American time. Once again, we waiting on God to provide and keep us steadfast. If we have learned nothing else during this trip (which trust me, we have learned a lot!) its that God is always in control and even when things don't go our way, everything is going to be okay.
Cameras out and spirits high, we arrived at the Enro Hotel in Mityana where we would be residing for the remainder of our stay. The food we were served in the dining hall wasn’t as bad as expected and we were lucky to have hot water to shower in. After seeing the bustling cities of Kampala and Mityana, we were ready to experience the simple Butebi village life the next few days.
